About Lucas Panian
This is my personal website about game programming and outside-of-work hobby projects. I am passionate about games, game engines, animation, and computer graphics.
Outside of computer work, I enjoy practicing jiu-jitsu, surfing, scuba diving, and just generally being outside, preferably near the ocean.
Chronological Professional History
I started my career as a year-long co-op student at Electronic Arts in British Columbia, Canada. That’s like an internship, but with school credit. While there, I worked on FIFA 2006 for Xbox 360, mostly with the systems & rendering team.
After that, I returned to school and finished my B.A.Sc. in Computer Engineering from UBC. Upon graduating, I joined Slant Six Games as a generalist, and worked on navigation, AI, and tools, and probably a smattering of other things. Specifically, I was on SOCOM: Tactical Strike and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3, both for PSP.
Not yet having my fill of constant dampness and rain, I moved slightly south to Bellevue, Washington, and briefly worked as a gameplay engineer at Sucker Punch Productions on Infamous 2 and Festival of Blood on PS3.
I continued moving south to California after taking a job with Blizzard Entertainment. I was there for a bit over 8 years, initially working on tools in Cinematics R&D. A good chunk of my time there was spent on a lighting tool, which was used for numerous shorts across all franchises. I later joined an incubation project as a gameplay programmer, and following that I worked on the shared game engine, where I made the initial implementation of the animation system.
Currently, I’m a gameplay programmer at Moonshot Games, working with some great people on a super cool project I think people will be excited about.
